No Sound on HP dc5800 upgraded to Windows 7 Pro 2 Years, 7 Months ago Karma: 0
So I just installed Windows 7 Professional, and I have no sound! I've got an HP dc5800 with 4-channel ADI 1884 codec for sound. I went to the HP website and they don't have any audio drivers available at this time for Windows 7. I've also tried installing the Vista drivers with the compatibility mode set to Vista and still no luck, always get error messages. So now I'm contemplating on whether or not to get a new sound card (low profile).

Can anyone give me any suggestions on good low-profile sound cards that are compatible with windows 7?

I've also seen those USB portable sound cards are those any good?

Thanks.

Make sure the onboard audio controller is enabled in the BIOS. Sometimes the obvious things are the easy to overlook.

Thanks. That solved the problem, turns out my Onboard Audio was disabled in the BIOS. Enabled it, then Win 7 recognized it immediately and installed the necessary drivers
